Not that I don’t love the movies, but I kind of feel like Elizabeth and Will’s places should have been switched at the end of At World’s End. Like, Will never gave a damn about pirating, he was just there for Elizabeth. Elizabeth, on the other hand, LOVED the sea, loved adventure and piracy, and there’s no way she’d just stay on the land for TEN YEARS at a time for Will. Both of them would be utterly miserable in that situation and, though the ending was bittersweet, it was NOT supposed to be an unhappy one.

What I’m saying is, Will is absolutely the type to play the dutiful husband and father waiting on the shore for his love (he literally already had ten years of practice waiting for Elizabeth as a child), and Elizabeth was already the pirate king, so being sworn to sail the seas for years at a time would have been the tragic other side of her devotion to adventure. The only reason they were switched is because of stereotypical gender roles.

Kink isn’t shameful because of the weird sex stuff. That part’s rad. It’s shameful because it is technically improv.

I hate, hate, HATE the term “affordable housing.” I hate that we’ve normalized it. I hate that we just accept that the majority of housing, a basic human right, is unaffordable to much of the population. Housing should be affordable as a baseline. If rich people want to add arcades and gold-plated hot tubs on top so be it, but everyone, everyone, regardless of income level, should have access to a clean, comfortable home with enough light and space to make life worth living.

Lotta discussion on here so I want to point out I meant not only the idea of housing being affordable in general, but also the tendency to call low-income subsidized housing “affordable housing.” Because 1. again, that’s boasting about the fact that so many homes are unaffordable to average people and 2. these homes are often still priced above many people’s budgets.

I literally listen to rich people in the town that I work telling me that they don’t want “affordable housing” in their neighborhood to my face. They act like a high-density apartment in their pristine suburb is going to turn the place into a slum, and meanwhile I, a formerly middle-class professional who works in their town, have been priced out of that hypothetical slum because the price is based on median income and the median household income in this town is $200,000.
